The deadline for mixed property developer Krrish that proposes a mega three-tower construction in the heart of Colombo Fort to pay a remaining 15% of its lease rental to the Government expires at 5 p.m. today, UNP MP Harsha De Silva warned.
“Investment Pro-motion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane has claimed Krrish would lose its duty concessions unless the payment is made by 15 July.
This is after the developer missed three deadlines for the payment, in December 2012, March 2013 and May 2013,” De Silva said.
He said the Krrish project was under a cloud after company officials claimed they had paid the dues to the Government ‘indirectly’. “The CID is now investigating the top Government official who is supposed to be involved in the fraud,” de Silva said.
“When certain officials were appointed to high public office, we said then that mafia godfathers had been given positions. Now they are getting caught,” he charged.
The developer has paid 85% of the Rs. 5 billion lease rental for the prime property with an outstanding amount of Rs. 700 million to be paid before the deadline expires today. (DB)
