Lakwijaya in Puttalam back to working condition

THE Ministry of Power and Energy said yesterday that the Lakwijaya Power Station which was in a state of dysfunction due to technical glitches had been restored to working condition due to the  untiring efforts of both local and foreign engineers.

According to plan the Lakwijaya power station added 100 MW of power to the National grid last Sunday around 2.40 a.m., while by evening the same day another 70 MW was added to the National Grid. While the reconstruction and observatory process was being continued at this power station, on Tuesday another 50 MW of power was added to the National Grid.

According to the Ministry of Power and Energy, thanks to the technical expertise and the total commitment and dedication of both local and international engineers, by 9.40 p.m. yesterday they were able to add the entire anticipated 300 MW of power capacity to the National Grid.
