Senior business leader Lalith De Mel has announced his retirement from the Board of Hemas Holdings Plc as Non Executive Chairman and Director.
The company said that he intends retiring at the forthcoming Board meeting.
He also headed the Remuneration Committee and the Nominations Committee of the Hemas Holdings Board.
De Mel has a Master of Arts degree from Cambridge University, UK and the AMP Harvard Business School USA. He counts over 40 years of board experience having served as a director of several companies in Sri Lanka and abroad.
He has served most of his career at Reckitt Benckiser Plc UK (a FT 100 company) and was a main board director. He was also a director of CDC PLC, the UK Government arm for investing in developing countries.
In Sri Lanka, he has served as the Chairman of the Board of Investment and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom, and was a Senior Advisor, Ministry of Finance. He is also a Trustee of the Cambodia Trust UK.
