Lanka Bell celebrates national Independence with launch of 4G connectivity

Lanka Bell announced the formal launch of its much-awaited 4G connectivity yesterday in Sri Lanka. Lanka Bell’s Managing Director Prasad Samarasinghe said that this was in line with a promise made last year to the company’s over one million subscribers. “As Sri Lanka celebrates the 66th anniversary of her independence, we, as a home-grown and truly Sri Lankan corporate, are delighted to share the amazing benefits of 4G connectivity with our fellow Sri Lankans,” Samarasinghe said. Following a very successful test run since the end of last year, Lanka Bell 4G is initially available in parts of Colombo and Greater Colombo such as Grandpass, Colpetty, Maradana, Hulftsdorp, Orugodawatta, Dematagoda, Nawala, Maharagama, Kadawatha, Kotahena, Mahabage, Borella, Ragama, Wattala, Kadawatha, Kottawa, Battaramulla, Peliyagoda, Crow’s Island, etc. Blanket coverage for the entire Colombo city is scheduled before the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka Anusha Palpita said: “We welcome Lanka Bell on board the national effort to link Sri Lankans to the rest of the world with far greater connectivity and speeds.
