Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama has requested State Minister for International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe to appoint an independent committee from the trade chambers to look into the allegations made by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe on Wednesday that BOI companies are involved in importing pepper, grain, etc. and leaking them to the domestic market.
The committee will also check whether any other goods produced by BOI companies are illegally sold to the local market without payment of the required duty.
