MD products expand global footprint with Tesco tie-up

Lanka Canneries, famous for the popular MD brand, has further enhanced its global reach by entering into an agreement with one of the world’s leading retail chains – Tesco PLC UK – to make its products available at Tesco Supermarkets in the United Kingdom.
The range will be enhanced and further increased in the near future with MD’s cordials such as sherbet syrup and nellie cordial along with coconut vinegar and kithul treacle.
Commenting on this development Lanka Canneries Chairman M.F. Dossa said: “We are delighted to have our products available at a world-class retail chain such as Tesco PLC. Among the MD products that are available at Tesco Supermarkets is a range of popular MD jams such as mixed fruit, pineapple and wood apple as well as MD’s signature extra hot chilli sauce and green chilli sauce. MD katta sambol, mango chutney and wood apple Nectar drinks are also available on the shelves of Tesco now.
Lanka Canneries through the MD brand has a rich heritage of more than 80 years in the fruit & vegetable processing industry and has attained prominence in the Sri Lankan market for its jams, cordials and sauces. MD products are currently exported to over 35 countries including the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, India, Maldives and Canada.
