Sri Lanka will later this week see a fresh group of top level Japanese corporate executives visiting the country for a game of golf.
NWS Holdings Chairman Takashi Igarashi who himself is a golf enthusiast told the Daily FT that over the weekend commencing Friday, eight Japanese executives who are passionate about golf will arrive in Sri Lanka.
This is the third group of executives to visit Sri Lanka to play golf under the initiative of NWS Holdings and its Japanese partner Bansei Securities Ltd. The duo was responsible in Royal Colombo Golf Club last year forging a landmark reciprocal agreement with Taiheiyo Golf Club in Tokyo Japan.
Previously a ladies’ group of eight came in July this year and in February a bigger contingent of 12 Japanese corporate executives cum golf enthusiasts visited Sri Lanka.
Taiheiyo Club has 17 golf courses in Japan including one overlooking Mt. Fuji and 17,000 members. The landmark reciprocal membership program signed in October between RCGC and Taiheiyo last year was aimed at boosting sports tourism.
