More Manila-Colombo flights

Manila: Sri Lanka and the Philippines have agreed to increase the number of allowed flights between the capitals of the two countries, a news report said.

   The Philippines has agreed to allow the Sri Lanka’s carriers unlimited air services rights to all other destinations in the country except in Manila where only four flights are allowed.

The Business World report quoting Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board Executive Director Carmelo L. Arcilla said both parties have agreed to double rights to four flights a week on the Manila-Colombo route.

According to the agreement, Sri Lankan carriers can also land in the Philippines, en route to Bangkok, Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur before returning to Colombo.

Sri Lanka is the second country after Malaysia to benefit from Philippine’s “pocket open skies” policy adopted by the government last March.
