President Mahinda Rajapaksa says he will still be President after the 8 January Presidential elections and will carry out his responsibilities to the country.
President Rajapaksa also said he does not need to sign multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with his Government members like the opposition before the Presidential election.
Speaking in Embilipitiya yesterday, the President noted that the opposition candidate had signed separate agreements with the political parties backing him at the election.
Common opposition Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena had signed a MoU with the main opposition UNP and another with the JHU.
The President said that in his Government all are united with one cause and so there is no need to sign separate agreements with any of them. (Colombo Gazette)
