Daily FT’s newsflash, which reported that owing to his growing support former President Rajapaksa would be invited by the incumbent Maithripala Sirisena to take over yesterday, sure lifted the hearts of over 5 million people and new critics of the Interim Government apart from boosting investor sentiments. However, these reactions were only fleeting as they were quickly struck down by the realisation that the newsflash was an April Fool’s Day prank.
