Members of the NDB Employees Association engaged in the protest yesterday
The NDB Employees Association yesterday protested in support of Group CFO Faizan Ozman, who is facing the axe for blowing the whistle late about alleged misconduct by an ex-senior management member.
A group of NDB employees were seen carrying placards and posters outside the National Arbitration Centre in Colombo 7 where the matter has been addressed for the past two days. After lengthy sessions, the next arbitration session was fixed for 30 May.
NDB’s management has suspended the Group CFO pending an inquiry. The NDB Board has been maintaining that Ozman blew the whistle very late i.e. January this year when the alleged incident of misconduct by the senior management member took place two years ago. However, Ozman had complied with NDB’s whistleblowing policy which allows an employee to lodge a complaint within six months of the resignation of the person concerned. Ozman also maintained since several were acting in collusion with the senior management member it was practically impossible to blow the whistle when the powerful person concerned was in office. Yesterday a team member had given strong evidence in support of Ozman as well.
