India’s capital New Delhi is Mihin Lanka’s 10th destination, with flights commencing from today, the company said in a statement yesterday.

Mihin commences its flight operations to Delhi on Saturday and this new frequency promises to be a boon to the traveller, specifically to those who frequent the Dambadiva Pilgrimage.

It pointed out that a minimum of 200,000 individuals travel yearly to India for pilgrimage and as a result of this convenient flight, they will find it easier to access their desired venues. As Mihin will fly direct to Delhi, many pilgrims and tourists can avoid tiring road and train travel to reach their destinations.

Currently Mihin has four direct flights to India – on Tuesday and Wednesday to Varanasi as well as Saturday and Sunday to Gaya.

With Delhi as its latest destination, travellers now have the convenience of flying via Delhi to Gaya or Varanasi with return also possible from Gaya or Varanasi back to Delhi.

“Mihin Lanka, Sri Lanka’s favourite budget airline, is the only one of its kind that offers a delicious free meal onboard, which can be upgraded to an individual’s choice, at a very reasonable rate.  In addition passengers can enjoy an upgraded and personalised in-flight entertainment system and on landing the run of a wide range of duty free shopping facilities,” the statement added.

With the addition of its 10th destination to the world, Delhi now joins an impressive flight schedule, which includes Gaya, Varanasi, Dhaka, Trichy, Madurai, Jakarta, Dubai, Bahrain, and Sharjah.

The Middle East sector caters to Sri Lanka’s migrant workers who have found Mihin Air an affordable option for travel.

The budget airline now operates on its fleet of one A 321 Air Buse and an A 320 Air Bus.
