New Finance Minister promises better fiscal management, development

Ravi Karaunanayake, the newly-appointed Minister of Finance, assumed official duties on Wednesday at the Ministry premises at auspicious time following all the religious observances.

On this occasion, Minister Karunanayake stated that the prime commitment of the new Government is to fulfill the aspirations of the people for their benefit, with the help of knowledge and experience of the Government officers and politicians. He further said that the new Government expects to develop the economy of the country by way of proper management of revenue collected from tax paid by the public and attracting foreign investments through opening the economy of Sri Lanka to the whole world while accessing the global market and safeguarding the local industries.
