Nihal Sri’s daughter Dheeshana, Padma Maharaja appointed to Hilton Board

Public interest litigator Nihal Sri Ameresekere’s daughter, Dheeshana, as well as socialite Padma Maharaja are among the new Directors appointed to the Board of Hotel Developers Plc - the owning company of Hilton Colombo - by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
Nihal Sri was the one-time Chairman of Hotel Developers Plc and figured prominently in the litigation concerning the company, Hilton and related parties and issues.
However, Dheeshana is a qualified professional in the leisure industry holding a Bachelor of Science - Travel Industry Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - International Marketing from American University, Washington, D.C, and AS Hotel & Restaurant Operations, Kapiolani College, Hawaii, USA. She also runs the boutique hotel Theva Residency in Kandy.
The Daily FT on Tuesday exclusively reported that Sagarika Delgoda was appointed as the Chairperson of Hotel Developers. Other new faces on the Board are Joseph Melitius Soosaithasan, Janapri S. Fernando, S. Priyanka Dissanayake and J.M.U.P. Jayamaha.
The appointments follow the resignation of T. Nadesan, K. Wickramanayake, Dr. T. Wickramasuriya, K.V.N. Jayawardena PC and K.M.M. Siriwardana.
