Nivard’s engineer son appointed to Hayleys MGT Board

Young professional Chathura V. Cabraal, who is also the son of Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal has been appointed to the Board of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc., as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 December.





Chathura is a graduate with honours in mechanical engineering with a focus in manufacturing and design from the University of Missouri Science and Technology.

During his Bachelors degree, he paid special attention to control systems engineering, environmental control and engineering statistics. These topics have been extensively applied in his functions as an engineer in the energy and environment division of Brandix Lanka Ltd. At Brandix, he was closely associated with the analysis of new equipment for factories, renewable energy projects and sustainability reporting.

Prior to joining Brandix, Chathura gained training as a management trainee with John Keells Hotel Management Services in the projects and engineering department. Chathura is an old boy of St. Peter’s College and the British School in Colombo and whilst at St. Peter’s, he captained the tennis team.

Following the latest appointment the Board of Directors of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc comprises Mohan Pandithage (Chairman), Emerick Fernando (CEO and Executive Director), R. Seevaratnam, Dhammika Perera, J.A.G. Anandarajah, H. Somashantha, N. Somaratne, R.P. Pathirana, S. Puawardena and C.V. Cabraal.
