President Maithripala Sirisena has issued orders to remove all cutouts and banners with his image publicly displayed island wide, the Presidential Secretariat announced.
The President, unlike his predecessor, has ordered not to display hoardings carrying his image in the future.
During his election campaign, Sirisena pledged to use the campaign funds to provide relief to kidney patients instead of spending on cutouts and billboards of himself.
He opened and activated a fund with the money he received for cutouts and hoardings to provide medical relief to the kidney patients.
