No plans to contest presidential poll: CBK

Quashing speculation of her re-entry into politics as the opposition common candidate at a future presidential poll, former President Chandrika Kumaratunga said she had no such plans at the moment.

“Others are proposing such a thing, but I have no interest in it,” she told the media yesterday. Asked if that position is likely to change, Kumaratunga replied that nothing in life was certain. “As a good Buddhist you know that nothing in life is certain and everything is prone to change. But at this point, it is not likely to change,” she quipped. (DB)
