Now revenue licence online; payment via credit card, mobile phone

Facility for Vehicle Revenue licence fee payment using credit card or mobile phones for vehicles registered in the Southern Province will be launched  today (2 December). Parallel to this, the introduction of the facility for obtaining vehicle revenue licence online for vehicles registered in the Southern Province will also take place today, ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) sources say. Currently, revenue licence for vehicles registered in the Southern Province can be obtained from any Divisional Secretariat in the Southern Province. Once this facility for payment is in place it can be availed of not only when the application is made online but also when it is sought by applicants physically visiting the Divisional Council Secretariat. Providing the vehicle revenue licence online first began in the Western Province. Encouraged by the success of this online service in the Western Province, action is being taken today to introduce this to the Southern Province, the ICTA said. According to ICTA, in the Western Province this year, up to now about one million vehicle revenue licences were issued. This facility can be obtained by accessing the following websites: www.srilanka.lk and www.gov.lk The official launch of this facility will take place at the Galle Labuduwa Dakshinapaya Ministerial complex today. Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya, Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijeyalal de Silva, Southern Province Chief Ministry Secretary W. K.K. Athukorala, Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and ICTA Chairman Prof. P. W. Epasinghe, Provincial Ministry Secretary Saman Darshana Pandikorala and Southern Province Motor Traffic Commissioner W. G. Amila Indika are expected to grace the occasion.
