NSB’s Working Director Tilak Abeygunawardana has sent his resignation letter to Finance Ministry allegedly over his displeasure on the savings giant’s contentious investment in The Finance Company Plc (TFC), which was reversed last week.

Abeygunawardana, a famous astrologer and an entrepreneur has been on the NSB Board since 2007. He has alleged that his resignation was due to frustration over the non-transparent deal.

He is also the Managing Director of Janasetha Jothisa Sevaya, and Director of Co-operative Hospitals, Galle and Advisor for religious and cultural activities of Independent Television Network.

Unions and the Opposition have called for the resignation of NSB Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam whilst some have demanded that the entire Board of NSB must resign as part of accountability in addition to legal action against any misdoings.
