NWS Holdings and the Bansei Group in collaboration with SriLankan Airlines and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will be conducting the sixth Road Show and Investor Forum in Tokyo on 5 October.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan has extended its fullest support towards the program making it a landmark event in the calendar.
NWS Holdings has held these forums in the past, creating a platform for Sri Lankan businesses to showcase the advantages and opportunities of investing in this country to an audience of potential institutional and high net worth investors.
Drawing audiences of close to 300 such investors, NWS Holdings has been successful in routing approximately Rs. 40 billion to Sri Lanka over the past 2-3 years. Investments include SG Holdings Japan acquisition of 51% Expolanka Holdings Plc executed on the Bourse for a value of Rs. 11.5 billion and last week, the investment of $ 15 million into fixed income securities by a leading Japanese company.
Given the success of these forums, NWS Holdings Group Managing Director Viraj Malawana confirmed that the company was collating a database of Japanese parties who had shown serious interest in making connections with various sectors in Sri Lanka and invited any Sri Lankan companies seeking such investment opportunities to contact the local office.
Led by Japanese Chairman Takashi Igarashi, NWS Holdings this year will host a team of six leading Sri Lankan companies to Tokyo whilst the newly-appointed Minister of Tourism John Amaratunga will attend as the Chief Guest along with other high level Government officials.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Foreign Minister of Japan who will encourage and promote Sri Lanka as a viable investment friendly destination for the Japanese. Furthermore, former Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Nobuhito Hobo, will also speak at the forum, highlighting the distinct advantages in investing in Sri Lanka at this time.
NWS Holdings is confident that this year’s event, being the largest forum of its kind to be held in Japan, will be well-attended and a great success.
