Over 100 tour operators to attend tourism show at CHOGM

By Cheranka Mendis Over 100 tour operators are slated to attend the trade, tourism and investment exposition ‘Reflections of Sri Lanka’ exposition which will be held from 13-17 November alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo. The exhibition will be housed in a newly-constructed makeshift facility in Battaramulla and will be open for the general public on 14, 15 and 17 November. Among those who have confirmed are tour operators from UK, China, Russia, India, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Germany, France, Middle East, Japan and Australia. Delegations with representatives from the national tourist boards of Philippines and Seychelles are also reportedly attending the event. These specific visitors are apart from around 500 foreign business leaders who are slated to attend the Commonwealth Business Forum and over 1,000 delegates for CHOGM proper. Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Bhashwara Gunarathna said there would be 82 tourism industry participants at the exposition, taking up 100 stalls. The stall composition includes two designated stalls for SriLankan Airlines and six stalls as a common area for visitors to gather.
