A team from global giant PayPal will be in town this week to discuss the launch of its fully fledged service with Sri Lankan authorities.
During the visit, the PayPal team from Hong Kong are scheduled to meet with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, and Central Bank officials among others. The US based PayPal operates a worldwide online payments system.
The service allows anyone to pay in any way they prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts, PayPal Smart Connect or account balances, without sharing financial information. At present receiving payments via PayPal is not allowed in Sri Lanka.
PayPal has quickly become a global leader in online payment solutions with more than 179 million accounts worldwide. Available in 190 markets and 24 currencies around the world, PayPal enables global ecommerce by making payments possible across different locations, currencies, and languages.
