Aviation industry specialist Peter Hill has been hired as a consultant to National Carrier SriLankan Airlines for one year.
Hill was one time the CEO of SriLankan Airlines when it was being managed by Emirates. He was given an unceremonious exit by the previous regime after Hill allegedly refused seats to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his entourage during a private overseas visit in late 2007.
The particular flight had been overbooked. Hill’s work visa was cancelled as he had refused the request of the Government, a major shareholder.
After leaving Emirates, Hill joined Oman Air in 2008 as its CEO. Oman Air hired Hill as he had the right blend of seasoned leadership, strategic skills, international experience and airline knowledge. He retired from Oman Air in December 2011.
An industry veteran, Hill joined DNATA of Emirates Group in 1978 leaving Gulf Air. Thereafter he joined Emirates Airline.
