PM off to Singapore to attend 3rd South Asian Diaspora Convention

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to leave for Singapore on Sunday to participate in the third South Asian Diaspora Convention (SADC) in Singapore to be held from 18-19 July.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister is the guest of honour at the event and will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session on Monday, 18 July.dsy

During his three-day official visit, the Premier is also scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with the President of Singapore Tony Tan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. 

The Prime Minister and his delegation are expected to negotiate a Free Trade Agreement with Singapore and also discuss investment opportunities in Sri Lanka for Singapore investors.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera will also speak on the first day of the conference on the “Geopolitics of South Asia”. Issues in the economic and trade sectors affecting the region’s future and its role in global geopolitics will be discussed at the convention.

The Premier will be accompanied by his wife Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera and Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama.
