Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday opened the new integrated manufacturing complex of Flexprint Ltd. at the Flinth Industrial Estate in Kadawatha.
The complex includes the material warehouse of Flexiprint, the leading manufacturer of teabags, teabag envelopes and tagged pyramid mesh, catering to the local and international tea trade.
The new factory has space to accommodate future expansion including printing, finishing, pyramid tagging and label printing. It houses a fully-stocked quality control department which makes sure that all completed orders leaving the factory are fault-free.
Flexiprint Managing Director Sathis Abeywickrama said the idea behind the integrated manufacturing facility was to streamline the production work process, make it more efficient, and to serve customers better and faster with an all-in-one packaging solution catering to all of their label and garment tag needs.
From humble beginnings in 1994, Flexiprint has grown to convert 5,500 tonnes of paper and board into tags and envelopes per annum and employs over 250. Its major markets are Australia, Bangladesh, the UAE, Egypt, France, India, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Turkey, Ukraine, the UK and Yemen.
