Due to popular demand, the world’s oldest airline KLM will increase the frequency of its flights between Colombo and Amsterdam to three times a week in late October during the 2017/18 Winter season.

KLM’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner will continue to operate between Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport connecting its 294 passengers into KLM’s global network of more than 140 destinations.

The flights will depart from Colombo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and return from Schiphol on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Speaking about the added frequency, Max Smits, General Manager for Air France KLM, Indian Subcontinent said: “We were delighted to see the increase in demand from this market, so we’re pleased to increase the frequency on the Colombo-to-Amsterdam route.”

“KLM is investing in its network. We believe it will be a great stimulus for ties between the two countries and provide our customers with a greater choice of flight options,” he added.

In Sri Lanka, KLM is represented by Mack Air Ltd., as the General Sales Agent.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner used by KLM has 30 seats in World Business Class, 48 seats in Economy Comfort and 216 seats in Economy Class.

The KLM Dreamliner offers extreme comfort in air travel and a new inflight experience for passengers. In World Business Class, passengers will enjoy the comfort of full-flat beds, complete privacy, extra storage and direct access to the aisle.

Passengers travelling in Economy Class will appreciate the new seats which offer 40% greater recline. All passengers will have access to a power socket to recharge mobile devices, electronically dimmable windows, seat chat, the latest inflight entertainment system and Wi-Fi on board.

Via Flying Blue, its frequent flyer program, its frequent flyers will continue to enjoy the advantages as Flying Blue offers numerous opportunities to earn and redeem miles with many airline and non-airline partners. Members can use their Miles to treat themselves to flights, hotel stays, car rentals and much more.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was founded in 1919, making it the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. In 2004, Air France and KLM merged to form Air France KLM. The merger produced the strongest European airline group based on two powerful brands and hubs – Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Retaining its own identity, the group focuses on three core businesses: passenger transport, cargo and aircraft maintenance.

In the Netherlands, KLM comprises the core of the KLM Group, which further includes KLM Cityhopper, transavia.com and Martinair. KLM serves all its destinations using a modern fleet and employs over 32,000 people around the world. KLM is a leader in the airline industry, offering reliable operations and customer-oriented products resulting from its policy of enthusiasm and sustainable innovation.

KLM is a member of the global SkyTeam airline alliance, offering customers an extensive worldwide network. The KLM network connects the Netherlands to every important economic region in the world and, as such, serves as a powerful driver for the economy.
