President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday set up a panel of experts to look into the report by the Parliamentary Select Committee that probed the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake.
The Committee that the President claimed would be an independent body, comprises a former Secretary to the Judicial Services Commission, a senior lawyer, a former banking professional and a civil society personality.
The Committee was scheduled to meet for the first time yesterday in order to study the 1575 page PSC report.
The members have declined to have their names being made public until the investigation is complete because it might hamper impartiality, Government sources said.
