President declares two new garment factories open in Eastern province

President Maithripala Sirisena last week declared open two newly constructed garment factories further bolstering the country’s prospects to boost exports.

The factories have been built with the purpose of generating a large number of employment opportunities for the youth in the Eastern province.

First, the President opened a handloom factory owned by the Lotha Ltd and subsequently unveiling the plaque, he also made an inspection tour of the new factory.

Later, President Sirisena declared open the Eastern Garment Factory.

The President also distributed school equipment kits to the children at the Abdul Kader Vidyalaya in the Eastern province. A portrait of the President created by M.S. Ramshani was presented to President Sirisena at the venue.

Minister Rauff Hakeem, Governor of the Eastern Province Austin Fernando, Eastern Province Chief Minister Nazir Ahmed, people’s representatives in the area and many others participated at the event.
