President to visit Kothmale project today

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to inspect the Upper Kotmale hydropower project today accompanied by the visiting Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Katsuya Okada.

The Ministry of Power and Energy said 97% of the construction of the hydro power plant has been completed. The power plant project was launched in 2006 with the financial assistance of Yen 37,817 million by the Japanese government. CEB is said to have spent Rs. 8,548 million for the project.
