Five days after the Aluthgama riots that left four people dead and score injured, President Mahinda Rajapaksa vowed stern action by law enforcement authorities against groups and individuals attempting to spread hatred between races and religions on Saturday. President Rajapaksa also said he has decided to appoint a high-level panel to inquiry into the recent disturbances in certain parts of the country including Aluthgama. “I will be appointing a high-level panel to inquire in to recent disturbances,” President Rajapaksa tweeted. Speaking in Kandy he father said that strict legal action will be taken against any perpetrator, regardless of his or her status. The President said the entire nation is faced with an unfortunate situation because all people in the country want reconciliation but some politicians in the country don’t have the will for reconciliation which exists among the people.
