South African President Jacob Zuma yesterday said his country was ready to play a role in Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process by sharing experiences from their own deep and complex conflict. President Zuma, who also attended the concluding press briefing together with President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday, said South Africa was engaging at a high level now. “We will be engaging continuously, perhaps to reach a higher level of interaction,” he explained. The South African President said that his country was keen that the problem in Sri Lanka was solved once and for all to achieve reconciliation, peace and stability in the country. “We have some experience to offer,” he said. South Africa had gone through a process and resolved their problems through negotiation, President Zuma said. President Rajapaksa acknowledged the support and said he had reached out to South African leaders about their reconciliation process as far back as when he was still Leader of the Opposition.
