Raj Obeyesekere quits Distilleries Board

Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka Plc yesterday announced that longstanding director Raj Obeysekere cease to be a director of the Company with effect from 26 January.

No reasons were cited for the move. Obeyesekere has no relevant interest in shares in the Company, a filing to the CSE stated. Obeysekere was a found director of Stassen Group. He was Non-Independent Non Executive Director and has been on the Distilleries Group since 1992. He counts over 35 years of experience in the export sector. Business tycoon Harry Jayawardena controlled Milford Exports owns 42.5% stake in Distilleries whilst Lanka Milk Foods holds 12.65%
