Leader of the Opposition and Sri Lanka’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremesinghe will engage in a month-long lecturing assignment from next week at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.Addressing media today, the Opposition Leader said that the MIT had invited him last year for a guest-lecturing assignment but he was not keen on visiting any Western Country at the time due to the US-sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka.
He said that now that the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions are over he had decided to accept the invitation to be a guest-lecturer.
During his month long assignment Wickremesinghe also plans to study the latest trends in politics, information technology, industrial developments and other related subjects.
The UNP leader also said that he was keen on studying a method of formulating a constitution without an executive presidency.
