Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday warned Sri Lanka and her people would face a multitude of new challenges locally and internationally.
In a message for the New Year, Wickremesinghe said people are entering 2014 with hope of better living standards, democracy and human rights, law and order and a just society.
People are also hoping for good governance that will ensure privileges and fruits of development aren’t enjoyed by only 1% of the people who are aligned to the regime and relatives. “People want equitable development and good governance,” the UNP Leader said.
Wickremasinghe said such aspirations of the people could only be realised by a political vision that was based on values and justice and not cronyism or greed.
“I wish all strength and opportunity in 2014 to create a just and prosperous society,” the Opposition Leader said in his message.
