Relief for people as prices of several food items cut

The Finance Ministry said that on a directive from President Mahinda Rajapaksa, prices of key essential consumer goods will come down with immediate effect as relief to consumers.

The price of Litro and LAUGFS gas cylinders would be reduced by Rs. 150 and the Special Commodity Levies on key essential consumer goods such as fish, dry fish, sprats, potato, Bombay onions, canned fish, etc. would also be reduced as follows:
