Sajin granted bail in failure to declare assets case

Colombo Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday granted a personal bail of Rs. 1 million with two sureties each to United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena on a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against him over failure to declare his assets. The Magistrate also impounded the passport of MP Gunawardena and issued an order preventing him from leaving the country. The court case was adjourned until 5 September. On 20 March, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed the case against Gunawardena at Colombo Magistrate Courts on charges of withholding details of his assets.
