The Supreme Court yesterday ordered the Attorney General to submit an intelligence assessment regarding the security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Court.
The Court ordered that the State Intelligence Service (SIS) report be filed by the AG.
The order was issued when the Fundamental Rights petition filed by NSSP candidate and lawyer Senaka Perera requesting that the security provided to former President and UPFA candidate Rajapaksa be reduced was taken up before the Supreme Court.
The former President, Elections Commissioner, Minister for Public Order, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the IGP have been cited as respondents in the case.
The petition will be taken up again on Friday (14).
A case was heard by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice K. Sripavan and including Justices Anil Gooneratne and Priyasath Dep.
