President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed satisfaction with India’s representation at the CHOGM 2013 after its Prime Minister decided to skip the summit. President Rajapaksa said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s letter to him officially declining the invitation to attend CHOGM did not allude to a boycott on grounds that Tamils were being mistreated in Sri Lanka. “That’s not what his letter to me says,” the President shot back at a journalist who asked for his observations about the Prime Minister’s absence due to concerns raised in Tamil Nadu. “The Prime Minister did not attend CHOGM in Perth either. His Foreign Minister is here. That is enough. I am satisfied,” President Rajapaksa said.
