Sir Ellis to talk on dynamics of bank consolidation tomorrow at MILODA

Sri Michael H. Ellis, an authority on financial services industry in the UK, will share some key insights into the dynamics of bank consolidation tomorrow at a breakfast presentation at the MILODA Academy of Financial Studies in Times Building in Fort.
He is in Sri Lanka on the invitation of Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera. Ellis was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2007 for his contribution to UK financial services industry.
He will make a presentation on ‘Dynamics of bank consolidation’ at 8:30 a.m. at MILODA as well as participate in a Q&A session. Sir Ellis is also expected to have discussions with DFCC Bank and NDB, which are pursuing a merger, as well as with officials of the Colombo Stock Exchange and others.
Sir Ellis has over 25 years of experience in the UK’s financial services industry, mainly with Halifax Plc, which was created in 2001 with the merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, which is widely recognised as a strategically-sound transaction.
He has varied expertise ranging from treasury to retail financial services and integration. From September 2011 to October 2004, he was Group Finance Director HBOS Plc having previously been a Senior Executive and Board Member of Halifax Plc.
Ellis left HBOS at the end of 2004 returning in September 2007 to resume the role of Group Finance Director from January 2008 to January 2009. Since May 2011, Sir Ellis has been the non Executive Chairman of Skipton Building Society in the UK. He also runs his own advisory and consulting business with a focus on international financial services.
