SL nominated for Offshoring Destination of the Year Award for third consecutive year

The Sri Lankan outsourcing industry has continued to add to its growing brand value and International recognition by being Short Listed by the National Association for Outsourcing (NOA) in the U.K for its Offshoring Destination of the Year Award for 2014 Winners will be announced on Thursday 20 November at a glittering event to be held at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. The National Outsourcing Association Awards (NOAAs), now in its eleventh year, recognises and celebrates the efforts of companies and countries who have demonstrated best-practice in outsourcing. Earlier this year Sri Lanka’s outsourcing industry achieved another significant achievement by getting shortlisted for the Offshoring Destination of the Year Award by the European Outsourcing Association which came on the back its recent outstanding achievement of having been selected as the Offshoring Destination of the Year 2013 by the National Association for Outsourcing (NOA) in UK. Commenting on the NOAAs 2014, National Outsourcing Association Director Kerry Hallard said: “The outsourcing industry is going from strength to strength. Not only is it enjoying significant growth across both the public and private sectors, but its focus is changing too, to truly deliver value add beyond cost savings. This was apparent in many of these award submissions which demonstrated an increasing display of innovation and business transformation through outsourcing. It’s set to be a very exciting awards ceremony, with strong submissions from many of the industry’s key providers, as well as entries from an increasing number of exciting newer players.” Expressing his views on Sri Lanka’s Short listing for this year’s NOAAs in the Offshoring Destination of the Year Category, SLASSCOM Chairman Jayantha De Silva stated: “Sri Lanka has consistently offered a unique value proposition for UK and EU companies, especially for software product engineering and accounting outsourcing. These honours that we have received are a testament to the tremendous momentum our industry has built up in the recent past and our growing International recognition.” Ranked among the Top 25 Global Outsourcing destinations by AT Kearney and among the Top 20 Emerging Cities by Global Services, Magazine, the Sri Lankan environment is highly conducive for allowing global enterprises to enjoy premium access to a high quality talent pool for small to medium scale engagements whilst establishing high-in-demand niche competency centres. Sri Lanka acts as an off-shore development centre and joint venture development centre to several Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders from the North American continent, United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, Norway, and Japan. Foreign entities that have invested in Sri Lanka have already begun to tap the local talent; HSBC, Industrial & Financial Systems (IFS), Copal Amba, RR Donnelley, WNS, Virtusa, Pearson, Valista, Millennium Information Technology (owned by London Stock Exchange), and Innodata Isogen are overseas investors that have become firm believers.
