SLIC sheds Sampath Bank stake

Sri Lanka Insurance – Life Fund was on the selling side of Sampath Bank, with bulk of the buying coming from Captains.

Around 327,184 shares of Sampath Bank traded last week for Rs. 65 million and SLIC Life Fund sold Rs. 40 million worth of shares. Senior business leader Sohli Captain’s family, whose stake is over 5%, was on the buying side.

Sampath Bank also completed its second consecutive week of gain, having risen by Rs. 5.40 in the previous week. As of September 2012, SLIC Life Fund held around 2.6 million shares or a 1.6% stake in Sampath Bank.
