Speaker signs 19A

General Secretary of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake yesterday said that Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa had signed the blueprint of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, validating the amendment which was passed last month.

On 28 April Parliament cleared the Bill, with 212 members voting in favour of the legislation. Ten members were absent. One voted against the Bill and another member abstained from voting.
