Opposition United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says Sri Lanka has now become a drugs “kingdom” and will soon be the “drugs wonder of Asia”.
Speaking at an election rally in Yatinuwara, the UNP Leader said that initially people attempted to smuggle heroin into Sri Lanka using their pockets but now it is being smuggled using containers.
“The most heroin has been seized in Sri Lanka,” he said.
He says the UNP wants to make a change in Sri Lanka and will use the provincial council elections on Saturday to bring about that change.
“This election will be the first step in changing the Government. We are going to launch a massive protest in 2014 to push for a regime change,” he said.
He also urged the public not to go alone but if possible convince others to come with them and vote for the UNP at Saturday’s election.
