Outside-lead-2-Mangala-FM-copySri Lanka and France have signed agreements yesterday on cultural cooperation and partnership with French state.

The agreement was signed by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera and French Minister of State for Development and Francophonie André Vallini at Quai d’Orsay on Thursday.

Minister Samaraweera is currently in France on a working visit from June 1 to 3, 2016 aiming to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Samaraweera will also call on Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad Matthias Fekl.

French Ministry of Foreign affairs said in a statement these meetings will provide an opportunity to mark France’s support for the courageous policy of openness and reconciliation pursued by the Sri Lankan authorities since the presidential elections in 2015 and to strengthen the cooperation, notably on the economic front, in order to contribute to the island’s development.
