Aviva NDB Insurance competed with Aviva Group’s global network and the Sri Lankan team emerged No. 2 in the highly competitive Aviva Customer Cup 2011 Grand Finals held in Gstaad Switzerland last week.

The Captain of the team Dimuthu Piyasena was adjudged the Best Captain of the Year and the Coach Kelum Senanayake was among the three nominated for the Best Coach Award.

The Aviva Customer Cup is a new global competition for employees and has proven its value with innovative ideas to improve service to customers, stimulate new approaches to teamwork and recognise the great ideas and dedication of employees across Aviva’s businesses around the world.  All the ideas submitted by the teams across the Group were carefully evaluated by the judging panel.

The Aviva Customer Cup has been recognised in the prestigious Financial World Innovation Awards 2010.

The winning presentation by the Sri Lankan team included a heartwarming skit with humour and drama that illustrated the product concept with great impact in just 11 minutes.  The team scored for getting the proposition of an innovative low-cost insurance solution for the low income segment.

“I am extremely proud of our team who aptly called themselves ‘The Link Between’ and competed exceptionally well in a highly competitive arena contesting for a coveted award that truly proves their calibre.  They were the only Asian team among the 28 countries in the global Aviva Group to qualify to participate in the Grand Finals in Switzerland” said Shah Rouf, Managing Director congratulating the AVIVA NDB team.

Projects from more than 200 teams across the globe were evaluated by judges in three tournament stages with only 10 teams making it through to the grand final. “This achievement is indeed another endorsement of the strength of our employment brand and the capability of the world class talent pool at AVIVA NDB” added Chathuri Munaweera, General Manager HR & Legal.
