Sri Lanka will provide grant assistance of US$ 1.5 million to the Government of Uganda to establish a vocational training centre in that country.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s proposal made in his capacity as Minister of Finance and planning to provide the grant assistance to establish the Sri Lanka-Uganda friendship Vocational and Technical Training Centre in Uganda.
The grant assistance will be utilised for upgrading and strengthening the Masulita Vocational and Technical Trading Centre in Uganda, the Government said.
A Sri Lankan contractor presently engaged in construction works in Uganda will construct the proposed centre, utilising the services of skilled Sri Lankan workers in the construction work.
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development will execute the project on behalf of the Government.
