Sri Lanka provides aid to Vanuatu cyclone victims

As a token of solidarity with the people of Vanuatu, the Sri Lankan Government sanctioned a cash contribution of $ 50,000 to victims of Cyclone Pam, which ravaged Vanuatu last month. The Acting High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Australia P. Selvaraj called on Vanuatu High Commissioner Kalfau Kaloris at the Vanuatu Mission in Canberra on 17 April 2014 to hand over the cheque. The High Commissioner of Vanuatu conveyed his gratitude for the contribution, saying that Vanuatu appreciated the support Sri Lankan had extended to the people of Vanuatu during their time of need and promised that the invaluable donation would be utilised for immediate shelter and sanitation requirements. The High Commissioner conveyed his best wishes to the Government and people of Sri Lanka and appreciated the valuable and strong friendship that existed between the two countries and looked forward to it being further enhanced.
