Recognising the need for developing human capital in the aviation sector, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will host a three-day Global Aviation Human Capital Summit in Sri Lanka in November this year.

SriLankan Airlines Head of HR Pradeepa Kekulawala noted that the summit would be held from 13 to 15 November at the Hilton Colombo in conjunction with SriLankan Airlines.

The summit is designed to bring together key decision makers in the aviation industry to share best practices in human capital management and development. Creating a forum to discuss challenges, explore synergies, and identify solutions that can be tailored to match the needs of the industry, the event is a part of IATA’s continuing efforts to meet the exceptional human capital challenges faced by the industry.

The summit is expected to attract a large number of global heads of human capital, their deputies and the global heads of training and development from airlines, airports and aviation authorities. The summit held last year in Singapore attracted some 150 delegates from 53 countries.

Covering a wide area in the industry, the summit will touch on attracting and retaining talent in aviation, developing a new generation of global aviation leaders, providing exemplary service while cutting costs, strategically managing compensation and benefits, using certification to ensure competency in the aviation workforce and engaging the workforce by maximising the use of advancements in technology.
