The Sri Lankan Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system won an award at the World Summit Award in the e-Governance and Open Data category.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 23 October inaugurated the four-day World Summit Awards 2013, which has brought together in Sri Lanka the globe’s best innovative e-content applications community.
The ceremonial inauguration was held at the Presidential Secretariat.
ETA is an official authorisation for a short visit to Sri Lanka and is issued electronically. The ETA is introduced with the intention of providing an efficient, reliable and simplified service to those who visit Sri Lanka. ETA holders will be issued a 30 day short visit visa at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.
