Standard Chartered’s Group Executive Director and CEO Asia in town

Standard Chartered Group Executive Director and CEO Asia Jaspal Bindra is visiting Sri Lanka today.
On his brief visit here Bindra will meet with investors and local leaders for discussions focusing on the local branch’s plans for 2014.
Bindra, who has visited the island on several occasions before, has been providing guidance to the bank in its intent to participate in the development and grown narrative of the Sri Lankan economy and polity.
Standard Chartered Chief Executive Officer Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar commenting on the visit said: “We are deeply honoured to host Jaspal, and we are delighted to have him visit Sri Lanka again. As always he keenly engages with staff, and investors and key clients. We look forward to his guidance which provides the impetus to deliver to our customers and clients, and partner in the growth of the Sri Lankan economy.”
Bindra was appointed as Group Executive Director to the Board of Standard Chartered PLC in January 2010, and is based in Hong Kong. Bindra joined Standard Chartered in 1998 and has held senior positions in the Group such as Global Head of Client Relationship for Wholesale Bank and Chief Executive Officer for India.
Before joining Standard Chartered, he was with UBS Investment Banking.
He began his career with Bank of America in 1984 and worked with them across Treasury Markets and Consumer Banking in India and Singapore.
